OH! What a Fright Nite

Hello Friends,

Well, told you I would blog again in continuation of my big Movie weekend.

So I had this idea early in the week while making plans with my sweetie...why not go see a slasher film with a few friends. I knew "Bloody Valentine" in 3D was playing locally. How fun...Blood-Guts-Horrible Acting plus us all caught wearing 3D glasses.

It was a blast! Bloody Valentine does not deserve two thumbs up. But still was good silly entertainment and the 3d effects really help you to feel like you're right in the gory moment.

Too good!

Was so happy to share this awwwful movie with some good friends...Leslie, Anne, Jaime, Jody & Darren. Despite the fact that you have to pay a few dollars extra, I can't wait to see the next 3D film with everyone (once Jody has blinged all of our glasses, of course :)

Date Night!

Mike and I were lucky enough to sneak away for a few hours yesterday afternoon and spend some quality time together. The girls were happy at home with our wonderful baby sitter, Maddie, plenty of cartoons and frozen fruit bars.

We first headed downtown for a light dinner and dessert. I had the most delicious raspberry chocolate torte. Anyone who knows me knows I love chocolate. This dessert had a balance of rich dark chocolate and sweet raspberry filling. I could not finish the whole thing, but I tried!

We then headed over to the theater near our house and caught the first showing of the movie "Taken" with Liam Neeson that just opened this weekend. Now to be honest this wasn't my first choice. I'm always happy to see a well thought out action film, but had not researched this movie specifically and was hesitant. I have to say, GREAT MOVIE! Two thumbs up. Very smart, plot is solid, Liam does a brilliant job portraying a retired ex-undercover something or other (sorry I'm still a girl, forgot all the brainy job details). It was realistic and heart-wrenching for a mom of two girls. At the same time it was thrilling to watch all the kick-butt scenes. A must see for all older movie goers.

Overall we had a great time together. Mikey was sick, poor baby, but suffered through and was a warm shoulder to hold onto in the chilly theater (wished I had brought a blanket). He was really a sweetie and I thank him for taking a girl out on the town and showing her a good time.

Tonight, he's even watching the kids so I can go out with the girls tonight to see yet another movie...I won't tell you which one...you'll have to wait until tomorrow...I'm sure one or all of us will blog about it. Should be fun and scarrry! Hint, pics will have us sporting some 3D eye wear!

A Start of Something Beautiful...

Hello and welcome to my very first blog. I want to start by sharing a little about my life...

I was born and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the age of 17 1/2 I met my true love, Mike, on a blind date set up by friends. Love at first site? Definitely something. Less than a year later we were married in Las Vegas and have been now for 13 1/2 years. We have two lovely girls, Adrienne & Audrey, who bring laughter, love and life to our home.

We have lived in Oregon for 7 1/2 years. Despite the longer (and colder brrr!) winters we are happy to call Oregon our home. Our family has made many wonderful friends and are lucky to have the best neighbors! Mike currently works for the State of Oregon as a Defensive Tactics Instructor for DPSST in Salem. A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to watch him in action, training new students. He was absolutely amazing.

Our oldest daughter Adrienne is in 4th grade. She is an avid lover of animals (tigers are her favorite), she volunteers at the local humane society, and enjoys playing her new Wii. Our littlest, Audrey is almost 2 1/2, is still at home with me full time. Audrey is an exuberant 2 year old, surprising us each day with her curiosity and 2 year old wit. She loves gymnastics, painting pictures (and then herself :) , and baking (or "making sugar" as she calls it) with mommy.

As for me, I'm a full-time stay at home mom. I love love love to bake, explore my creative side with various projects (not all finished), and enjoy my "me" time at the gym. Once a week Audrey and I help out with art class at Adrienne's school, and I've recently started helping at our church in the 3 year olds class. I feel so blessed to be able to spend time with Audrey while she is still little. These years pass by so quickly, I wouldn't want to miss a minute!

Thank you for viewing my first post. I hope that between storytime, bubblebaths and days I don't shower until noon (yeah, it happens) I can keep you filled in on the day to day happenings of my lucky life!
